The education system needs to be handled by the local school district and not the federal government in Washington. Each district knows what is best for their student in their individual districts. Washington is only doing a one size fits all and that has not worked. Abolish the Dept of Education and give it back to the states.Feb 9th, 2017Bob L. from Chicago, IL writes:
I agree. I am friends with a number of excellent people who taught at Edward Jenner in Cabrini Green in Chicago beginning in 1966 through when the school was closed. The CTU has dramatically changed since then for the worse, particularly regarding students.REPORT COMMENTS

It is time to get the Federal Government out of Public Education. It is not Constitutional and if you actually believe in the US Constitutional, you should support this bill. Thank you!REPORT COMMENTS

Once Betsy DeVos fixes everything, we should not need a Dept of Ed. All the employees of that Dept can then go work for ICE, as the president is gearing up Border Patrol. Education decisions should be left to the Individual states, not the Fed.REPORT COMMENTS

It is about time for Parents to realize that the Teachers Union and college curriculum do not use the "behavioral principles of belonging" to a great organization, city, country, to motivate our children. They have moved to endoctrination vs. the original education based on Sacratese art of questioning what and how something is taught or works. The government mandates have backed the approach of indoctrination. Time to get back to what is exciting and manifests itself in a well educated population.REPORT COMMENTS

Local school districts know what they need for their students, not the federal government. Why are we sending our tax money to the fed just so they can send some of it back to us and tell us how to spend it? Millions of dollars to run the fed. dept. of educ. can stay in the states, thereby helping our children.REPORT COMMENTS

This is a politically-charged department and it is entrenched with shadow warriors set on undermining the new president's administration and/or agenda. The Dept. of Education and its shock troops in the NEA, AFT, (unions) are highly effective in buying influence from the Democrat politicians and even two RINOs (Murkowski and Collins). Students are lagging far, far behind their counterparts in the poorest communist countries of the world, in spite of the trillions of dollars we pour into federal mandates. The Dept. of Education is instrumental in amassing the chain of student indoctrination centers (public high schools, colleges and universities) that have created Democrat-voting zombies who revile our Constitution. This is not producing better math and reading scores on learning productivity measures (tests, etc.) Stop dumbing America down! Support HR899 and terminate the Dept. of Education now!REPORT COMMENTS
