It's Constitutionally not delegated to the federal government to educate our children. It will save tax dollars and move toward reducing the nation's debt.REPORT COMMENTS

This is a first step toward assuring that future generations will be equipped with the necessary intellectual tools to allow them to compete confidently in the World marketplace. Our children lag way behind the children of numerous other countries, particularly in the fields of mathematics and science, and their spelling isn't all that hot either.REPORT COMMENTS

Why send tax money to The Department of Education so they can pay bureaucrats then send the remainder back to the states. Cutout one level of bureaucrats. The Constitution does not say any thing about education being Federal.REPORT COMMENTS

When I was young, the PTA was involved in the education of children. My mother had a say in what class and teacher I had. It barely exists now. Parents let the teacher's unions have the final say.REPORT COMMENTS

Somehow we lived through the "new math" that generated a whole generation of young people who didn't understand simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Now we have "Common Core" that is confusing to many teachers responsible for imparting knowledge to our youth. We were fortunate enough to limit Jimmy Carter to one term, and we now desperately need to get his legacy legislation and the federal government out of our K-12 schools and get back to the kind of education this grandfather was fortunate to receive. I'm counting on your support of H. R. 899 to eliminated the "Department of (un)Education!REPORT COMMENTS
