I believe this new tax will end up hurting both business and consumers. The one sure thing is that it will temporarily feed the insatiable appetite of government to metastasize itself and eat its' host - the people of the US. There are thousands of tiny mom and pop web stores that simply have no way to figure all the different tax rates for their customer's goods. Many will go out of business and end up on food stamps.REPORT COMMENTS

There's no way you can ask online retailers to try to meet the tax laws of every single community they receive orders from!REPORT COMMENTS

How is an Internet business/website supposed to know what sales tax to correctly charge, from every zip code in the country? Imagine the programming issues - is there even a national database accessible that websites could link to? As a former Intenet Buisiness coach/owner, I can verify how incredibly difficult it is to do more than charge for the sales tax rate of the business's own home city. Just another way for govt to get more money, and for big corporations to kill off small competition.REPORT COMMENTS
