The patriot act was a failed attempt to protect the USA from forien terrorists. It has however been illegally twisted into a club to beat the US Citizens with in some pitiful attempt to protect the Government of the United States from (we the people) it's own citizens. The only real threat you want to see is "we the people." You say that the entire threat to "the government" is the christian religion and those who hold the founders beliefs to be true! The government thinks that whenever we have the right to make our own choices that we will choose wrong, (which simply means we did not choose the path followed by the democratic party!) Therefore the US government simply wants to remove any choices we could make wrong and let government employees make those decisions for us. Yet these same law makers make themselves exempt from the laws that they say we must follow. The fact is that no decent American would honestly treat other Americans this way. To step back and take a look at the US government, it is an honest evaluation to say "the inmates are running the asylum!" This is how "we the people" see our government at work. Almost every good, hard working American is scare of their own government and wonders every day what they will do to us next! I strongly urge you to support the Surveillance State Repeal Act and to end the Patriot Act to give "we the people" the real state of security that we are guarenteed by our constitution. Remove the fact that we are presently guarenteed to be guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of our own government! I urge you to talk with some of the real people you represent (not fellow politicians or government employees) to find out that they really do feel this way! Only those hat make the law or feel that they are above the law feel differently! They act as if, it's only a few that feel that the government can't be trusted. Please make us feel safe and free again and repeel the patriot act!Jul 30th, 2015Rickey M. from Fort Smith, AR writes:

The government has no need for personal American citizen information. Collecting information on American Citizens needs to be subject to 30 years in prison and a fine in excess of $1 million.REPORT COMMENTS

We need surveillance abroad and in our own public areas in some relevant cases, but this is not, nor was it ever the solution. It is an encroachment on our rights.REPORT COMMENTS

Pardon me, but if you have sworn to uphold and protect the constitution, shouldn't you be required to at least read it? And, if it were up to me, all elected officials would be required to pass a lengthy "written" exam proving they know the very MEANING of the CONSTITUTION. Can I get an AMEN?REPORT COMMENTS
