Tell Congress: Support HR 3785

To Repeal Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act

Conservative Action Alerts had reported the dangers relating to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 in the last months of 2011 before it was signed into law by Barack Obama on New Years Eve.

Section 1021 of the NDAA contains language that endangers American citizens by nullifying essential liberties guaranteed by the Constitution -- rights to privacy and a fair trial.

HR 3785 -- which repeals section 1021 -- was introduced by Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) on January 18, 2012. A portion of Rep. Paul's statement is as follows:

"Section 1021 essentially codifies into law the very dubious claim of presidential authority under the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force to indefinitely detain American citizens without access to legal representation or due process of law. Section 1021 provides for the possibility of the US military acting as a kind of police force on US soil, apprehending terror suspects – including Americans — and whisking them off to an undisclosed location indefinitely. No right to attorney, no right to trial, no day in court.”

HR 3785 reads simply: "Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (Public Law 112–81) is hereby repealed."

PLEASE STAND WITH CONSERVATIVE ACTION ALERTS, YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS, AND THE CONSTITUTION AND SIGN THIS PETITION AND SEND YOUR MESSAGES TO CONGRESS DEMANDING THEY PASS THIS BILL!

This is a disgrace. If this continues I will make it my mission in life to gather voters to oust incumbent politicians from office. No matter what party they serve.

As a military member, seeing this outrages me! The lack of respect that has been given to we few these past years is unnerving! I might not have a career in the military that put me in harms way ALL the time, but to take away that eminent danger, over seas, and hazard pau from us that are over there, in a HOSTILE environment on a day to day basis, is by far the BIGGEST slap in the face that we have ever had! Only pay us when we are getting shot at?! How many bullets does the military member have to take before we get paid to do or duty?? We see a cut in our pay, or sometimes no pay at all (here recent), and now we don't get special pay for going to fight for what our country is fighting against?! Who's to day that we are NOT going to get shot at today? Who's to day we are to see our next sunrise tomorrow in a wartime setting? I'm appalled at the elected for even thinking about this! And if they had ANY respect for WE BRAVE FEW, they would look at this petition, and have no doubt in their mind to do away with this outrageous ordeal, and stop messing with our pay!

Who are you guys to decided if we shouldn't get combat pay. We are over there because you want us over there. Have you ever been to combat I'm assuming you haven't so let me tell you, you never know when you might take fire our might be killed. Don't be trying to fix the budget on the backs of the vets lets see you guys take a party cut instead.

Our men and women in the military are THE reason we are safe in our homes and all the politicians are sitting behind their desk in their comfy chair. To take away their combat pay makes me really ashamed to be an american right now. They deserve so much better and they have MY utmost respect. WAKE THE HELL UP !!! Who is really protecting our country?? It is REALLY sad that a dog walker or the dog groomer gets paid more that our men and women who put their lives at rick for us.

OK, let's continue to support those in our country who DO NOTHING (welfare/foodstamps/seemingly unlimited unemployment, section 8 housing, on and on and on) for this country, but let's take away from those who DO. Something is terribly wrong with that line of thinking and everyone of those elected officials who voted for this need to go away in 2014.
