Tell Congress: Support HR 3785

To Repeal Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act

Conservative Action Alerts had reported the dangers relating to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 in the last months of 2011 before it was signed into law by Barack Obama on New Years Eve.

Section 1021 of the NDAA contains language that endangers American citizens by nullifying essential liberties guaranteed by the Constitution -- rights to privacy and a fair trial.

HR 3785 -- which repeals section 1021 -- was introduced by Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) on January 18, 2012. A portion of Rep. Paul's statement is as follows:

"Section 1021 essentially codifies into law the very dubious claim of presidential authority under the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force to indefinitely detain American citizens without access to legal representation or due process of law. Section 1021 provides for the possibility of the US military acting as a kind of police force on US soil, apprehending terror suspects – including Americans — and whisking them off to an undisclosed location indefinitely. No right to attorney, no right to trial, no day in court.”

HR 3785 reads simply: "Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (Public Law 112–81) is hereby repealed."

PLEASE STAND WITH CONSERVATIVE ACTION ALERTS, YOUR FELLOW AMERICANS, AND THE CONSTITUTION AND SIGN THIS PETITION AND SEND YOUR MESSAGES TO CONGRESS DEMANDING THEY PASS THIS BILL!

We need to stand up people...take note of these congressmen and women who passed these bills hurting our Military and veterans. Let's just vote them out of office! Be a voter! We can fix this country by getting the right people in office...let's do our research and not let our Congress lie to us. Expect and demand results. We are stronger together and will be heard.

It's nice that the government is cutting military's pay but yet the government is making more. If you are going to be in government you need to have some sort of military duty on your belt. Just like have some sort of college education well it should go for having some sort of military background. Smh it's only going to her worse.

You got to be kidding me. Send congresses kids over there in uniform and see if it changes. Better yet why doesn't the government just be honest and tell all if us that the extra monies are going in there pockets. Shame on all if you, take away all of it from those who gave you the right to do so? Stand up American people, fight for all rights.

This is what happens when the war is fought from a desk and the "boss" does not know the reality of deployment.

It is easy to pass laws when you have no knowledge of how it will effect the other person. This is a disgrace and shows no respect for those who are sacrificing themselves for our rights and freedom, maybe the president should put on a uniform and stand in these areas he declares safe with no body guards and learns what these soldiers are having to deal with maybe then he will wake up.

I am a marine, I got out in 2007. Now mind you, I was a female marine and a motor transport mechanic. While serving my country in Iraq in 2007, my female search team and I came under fire while on a post searching the Iraqi women. I have also lost brothers in arms from this same war and now you plan on taking combat pay from everyone who is not being shot at. Well hate to bust your big fat bubble, but if you leave the FOB there is a great chance that you are going to get shot at. So you really need to rethink this new what ever is great you need to rethink it because there is no safe zone anywhere over there or here for that matter. Wake up America and stand up for your rights before you haven't gotten anymore!!!!

I have served for over 18 years and my kids don't get that time back. I can't get back the fact that they have no roots from moving to support my missions. I can't get back the toll this has taken on my body, hearing loss, 4 knee surgeries, asthma, migraines, eye sight, allegories, and depression. This country has taken a lot of me and now tells me it was not enough. I wanted this to be a new generational privilege, giving back to my country but I think the buck will stop here. Thanks Congress for all that you do for just 6 figures, while I struggle on a low 5.

Taking combat pay from the Service Members would be adding further insult to injury. We risk our lives to defend our nation and we are not payed near what our job entails. If you need to cut anyones pay cut into the civilians that support us down range. They do our job but only the half that doesn't mean combat. These contracted civilians make two to three times more then we do and they are not required to defend the base. I do not mean to offend any of our civilian counter-parts but the ones who really support the troops would most likely agree we should be paid more not less.
