I urge the Senators to vote No on ratifying the CRPD. We set the gold standard in disability law without the UNs help, and we can continue to improve that standard without giving up our principles of self-government. Americans have repeatedly shown our generosity and respect for our fellow man, and I believe we can continue to do that without international babysitters. Ultimately, U.S. domestic policy should be decided in the halls of Congress, not at the U.N.Nov 20th, 2013Rachel M. from Fuquay Varina, NC signed.

The U.S. is a sovereign nation that has the ADA, IDEA and we do not need the UN telling us what to do! It is time we pull out of the UN since continually oversteps it bounds pushing for this One World Gov't!REPORT COMMENTS

We do not need this intrusive treaty to tell us how to take care of our own. This would also dangerously interfere with parental rights. We are a self-governing people, at least we ought to be. We do not need the UN imposing standards on us. Please vote NO on this treaty!REPORT COMMENTS

We do not want our elected officials voting away our national sovereignty for any reason. We are able as a nation to stand up for our fellow citizens without the aid and input of international babysitters.REPORT COMMENTS

I urge our senate to vote NO to the ratification of this treaty. The US has legislation in place already that provides for the care of our people and our children with disabilities. While there are many troubling parts of this treaty, it is particularly troubling to me that the term disability is not defined clearly and that "parental rights" are replaced with the term "best interests of the child". There is not a determining hierarchy in who decides for the best interests of the child nor is the parent included (using this language) as the individual responsible for the care of this child. To remove US sovereignty in the oversight of our people and to remove the rights of the parents to care for their own child fundamentally strikes at the heart of the freedoms that our nation values.REPORT COMMENTS

Please vote NO! Do NOT ratify the CRPD treaty. It is a threat to our self government. The citizens of the U.S.A. should not be subject to an "EVOLVING concept" of disability to evaluate how we help our citizens with disabilities. We already have the best disability laws in the world and we MUST maintain our rights of self government! We MUST NOT give up our rights to 18 members of a UN committee... Thank you!REPORT COMMENTS

The CRPD is not necessary in the U.S., as we already provide for the needs and rights of disabled persons in this country through the ADA. This treaty would sacrifice our national sovereignty to an international body, becoming the supreme law of the land, affecting our laws in such areas as education, health, and employment. That is unnecessary and uncalled for. I urge you to vote against this treaty.REPORT COMMENTS
