Although I have "No Faith" in our current legislative branch to do anything the is fair, just, or right for the American public - I would encourage "You," my duly elected official to seriously consider the Fair Tax Bills and look at abolishing the unfair and cumbersome IRS code. It's high time that the playing field was leveled and everyone, not just the super elite & wealthy, got a fair deal concerning taxes. A consumption tax, in my opinion, is much better than an income tax - It makes sense: the more you spend the more you are taxed. I was discussing with a coworker how I pay a federal employee's salary each year with my federal income taxes. She replied that I should seek tax shelters. I thought about that. For one thing, while not dishonest, it seems sleazy. More importantly, our bewildering and overly complex tax code is really about controlling or modifying human behavior. The money I make is mine. I want to spend, invest, and save through MY choices, not those of a lobbyist or a bureaucrat. Our present "progressive" income tax system is beyond fixing and ripe for abuse, as the Lois Lerner scandal amply illustrates. Please adopt the Fair Tax.REPORT COMMENTS
