Tell U.S. Senators: Stop CISPA!

Please, help Conservative Action Alerts keep your information safe and private, and away from government agencies!

The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act would annul each and every American’s natural right to privacy by giving big businesses the power to hand over their users’ private, sensitive information to government agencies.

The bill, S. 624, unashamedly states that big businesses are exempt from honoring and abiding by privacy laws: On page 4, line 5, the bill says that “notwithstanding any other provision of law," businesses may share user information "with any other entity … or other appropriate agency or department of the Federal Government."

This means your emails, text messages, chat logs, bank statements, web searches, eBay purchases, documents in the cloud, etc. are all subject to being turned over to government for any reason under the sun, so long as the information can be construed as a “threat” to cybersecurity.

>The crux of the matter is this: you have a natural right to privacy and government has no authority to violate it. The right of privacy – or, what our founders called “security” – existed long before the formation of the United States and is not a gift of government, but of God. This is why the founders codified this right in the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, which states: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

CISPA clearly violates the Fourth Amendment, thus, Lawmakers – those individuals who swore an oath to defend the Constitution and serve the people – have absolutely no business supporting the terrible piece of legislation.

Congress is bound to protect our privacy – or, as Justice Louis Brandeis called it “the right to be left alone” – not trade it in for a scheme of false security.

Take Action! Sign the petition and message your U.S. Senators demanding they OPPOSE the “Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act” and DEFEND digital privacy!

Votes: CISPA passed the House of Representatives 228-127 on Thursday, April 18, 2013.

As soon as I got into work today, I heard that while we were busy "looking for the Boston Marathon bombers" the House of Representatives passed a bill making it a criminal violation NOT to hand over one's Facebook password to their employer! This is just PLAIN WRONG. That is my personal account. If my employer can sign onto my page, he can post things himself making it appear it came from me. Kinda makes it easy for an employer to get rid of you.

This is an outrageous abuse of our right to privacy! If an enemy (personal) or acquaintance got angry at anotehr for some imagined slur or remark, however it was meant, and perhaps taken out of context, they could cause unbearable consequences to another, plus public humiliatoon, just over some little personal dispute!!! I am sure there will be some organization or department created sop that people can snitch on each other jsut to caue problems for someotne that they are angry and/or upset with! This CISPA is such a foolish idea and I am wondering which IDIOT in D.C. came up with it to begin with....
