The past 2 amnesties in less than 30 years without sealing the border, show that DOESN'T work and that promises to close the border AFTER granting the amnesty don't either. Rewarding LAW BREAKING only breeds MORE of the SAME!

First things first -- we have no nation if we do not have secure borders. There is a process in place; my father, and my grandfather went through it, so should everyone else.

The 1986 amnesty was a failure because Congress didn't just fail to enforce immigration laws and secure our borders and interior but willfully refused. The result is over 20 million illegal aliens now occupying our nation and demanding amnesty on top of the jobs, and government programs they have acquired illegally. Why would anyone who believes in the rule of law and the security of our nation want to repeat that?

Seems to me those here illegally are the constituents of our elected officials. Why are we wasting time on this issue? Secure our borders, enforce the laws on the books, end birthright citizenship, end chain immigration, stop the dream act, mandatory e-verify, and we would not have this problem. The taxpayers of this country have paid for this over and over again and nothing has been done. Those responsible for not enforcing our laws should be held accoutable!!!!

IF THE BORDERS ARE NOT SECURE, no form of immigration reform would be worth the paper it is written. ALSO, I think "permanent resident" is more acceptable than "citizenship". Illegal residents should NEVER be rewarded with citizenship for breaking our laws, or accessing social services of any sort. Mexico jails those who enter their country illegally--regardless of border security. They donot give illegals any slack.

If 11 million Americans invaded a country, stole their jobs, used their identities, used their entitlements, their schools, failed to pay taxes, do you really think they would reward us? Most likely it would be grounds for war. What's wrong with our government that we treat these people above the law of the land and pander to them. Their welfare is the responsibility of the country they belong to. Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens. Eight American children are victims of sexual abuse by illegal aliens every day – a total of 2,920 annually. While no one – in or out of government – tracks all U.S. accidents caused by illegal aliens, the statistical and anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year’s 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens. Senator Grassley's new admendment to the bill will allow illegals citizenship even if they have had two D.U.I's, even if those D.U.I's involved deaths of our very own citizens. As tax payers we paid to have our borders secured and our immigration laws enforced. Let's do it. It's time to DEPORT, Yes, we can!!!
