We have enough Gun Control Laws now. Enforce them, we do not need new ones.

This bill is only taking guns from law abiding citizens. It will end in disaster for anyone trying to disarm Americans.

This ban is an outright declaration of war on the constitution of the United States of America. Anyone purposing such actions in Congress should be subject treason charges.

Take a look at the data. Compare the highest ranked states in the 2011 Brady Campaign list of strictest gun control laws with 2011 FBI crime data. Three of the “safe” gun control states are in the top ten for firearms murders. Only two from the lowest “safety” rankings make the list. “Safe” states are also higher in the firearms assaults list. Interestingly enough, The District of Columbia is not actually on the Brady list, despite having by far the most rigid gun laws in the nation, even more so than California. I’ve included it to further reiterate my point that gun control laws do not work. In 2011 the D.C. had 1621 firearms murders per 100k population. This is well more than TWICE the rate of the next state on the list. Furthermore, three of the top ten most firearms in the list came from strict gun control states. Three came from the bottom third of the list, and three from the middle. In other words: GUN CONTROL LAWS DO NOT WORK. Prohibition failed. The Drug War has been a massive failure. The only way to prevent gun violence is to eliminate every gun in America, and that will never happen, nor is it reasonable. Semi-Automatic rifles are NOT Assault Weapons... I am really getting sick of all the biased attacks on law abiding gun owners who are being vilified through no fault of their own. And of the slander towards firearms in general from those who are either uneducated in their mechanics, or are blatantly lying to mislead the uninformed. You MUST NOT allow the violation of our Constitutional rights!!

I am an avid historian in my off time and have done quite a bit of research into the topic of gun control. I can safely say, without a doubt, that gun control measures will be ineffectual...the worst school attack in the history of the United States was a bombing perpetrated by a farmer in Bath, Michigan in 1927. Any measures that do infringe upon the 2nd amendment go above and beyond preventing another tragedy and in fact change the nature of our society. The 2nd amendment was written with a specific purpose, not hunting, not home defense from a criminal, but to ensure that the final check and balance to any part or portion of the government would be the governed. If that check is removed then the government will naturally, as with all bureaucracies, grant more and more powers to itself and those powers can only be had at the expense of individual liberties. America was built upon the principle of self-determination and to act otherwise would be disingenuous to those who have sacrificed for our freedoms before and disastrous to those who will be without them after.
