USAID continues despite "shutdown" – tell Congress to start making cuts!

It's time to tell lawmakers to start cutting USAID commitments and other "foreign welfare" programs – the government is not a charitable organization!

The current government shutdown has barred veterans from visiting memorials and has even thrown people out of their homes, yet the government evidently has enough money to keep doling out aid to foreign governments.

“The federal government may have ground to a halt because of the budget standoff in Washington,” says the New York Times. “But at least one part of the government continues to operate as usual: foreign aid agencies.”

The State Department has confirmed that foreign aid programs will continue, even as state and local aid programs are shutting down for want of funds.
