Obama's claims to fame was his articulate speech and positive presence, as a Junior Senator from Illinois, elected to be the speaker at the Democratic Convention. Prior to this, he was an unknown, and the likes of his handlers ... Axelrod, Emanuel, Jarret, etc. were instrumental in putting him "on the political map".
