I agree that Education is not the responsibility of the federal government. But should be left up to each individual State.

The school system was wrong in having schools for the white and blacks, and they were not equal. But we are not getting quality education today. To many administrators, rules and not enough teachers . This is running up the cost with no results!

I would say if anything the Dept. of Education responsibilites should be reduced to a statistical agency at best...the states, counties and communities have elected school boards, that should asssist in the direction of educating our future generations. I would add to this also the Teacher's Union greatly does a disservice to our children, they have become extremely political with gender indentity and promoting Marxist ideologies.

It is time to go back to the constitution and let states run there states. Yes the federal government should get out of education and turn it back over to the states.

Before 1979, our public education was much better than it is now. This was all before the Department of Education Federalizing it. The Common Comrade style of education, no more. Dismantle it! You have our permission.

I personally think all public elementary, junior high, and high schools should be abolished. Parents should teach their own children. If for some reason they can't teach their own children, then they should make arraignments to have them taught. The federal government should definitely not be involved in education.

This is an excellent first step in turning state's responsibilities back to the states. It is the constitutionally appropriate, fiscally responsible, and morally proper thing to do.

This should have been done a long time ago. Now students are in an abyss with no way out if their computers or smart phones go down. They do not know anything about how situations or problems are supposed to work. They are not taught to reason, only how to program. If that system breaks down, they cannot even make change. And all this has occurred in the last forty years, after the federal government stepped into the picture.

I have waited half a lifetime to see the federal government taken out of the education business. They're not good at--witness the most recent Common Core debacle--and they have no business regulating it. That responsibility is a state and local one! Please, I beg you: sign onto this short, sweet and critically important bill and do all you can to see it ushered through Congress. Thank you so much! We will remember this at election time!

I have become concerned about my Senators since I began supporting President Trump. If the resistance to President Trump from my Senator continues I will make sure to not vote for him again again. Perhaps many of the senior members of the Senate have become to comfortable in their reelections and should be removed from office. I do not like the Republican Senators we elect not supporting our Republican President. He is who we elected and as long as he is doing what he promised to do, sneators should do what we elected you to do. Your future rests with you actions.

There is so much waste in the federal education programs, and they support the union which protects incompetent teachers. Return the education of our children to their parents, communities and states. Please support HR 899 to eliminate the Department of Education. Thank you for your support.
