I do firmly believe the Dept. of Educa. has drained our finances for too many years, to what avail?? Is there anything positive about this entity? Lets free some finances to lower our indebtedness.

Please Ignore this ridiculous legislation. We are a nation, we need national core basic education, standardized across the curriculum, Pre-K through High School. If states are allowed to develop their own version of education we will have Bible Studies, History according to 'God Knows Who', Science God Willing that says our world is 6,000 yrs. old. Good old fashioned segregation, or separate and equal will be back too. Local rule, at it's worst and most chauvinistic, which is what often dominates, is a disaster for national goals set for education, to compete effectively in a global economy.

Public education has been a State function since 1784 where Josiah Bartlett, second signer of the Declaration of Independence, penned the following: ...the purpose will also be to teach Christian morality.... That New Hampshire Constitution predated The U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Thus the unalienable 1st and 10th Amendments over rule the 14th Amendment.

Us schools are so bad they are now just holding areas, they teach how to fight, very little education can get through to the children. University are just as bad, most prof. are liberals who shame their students if they do not agree with their ideals and agendas. The state controlled education maybe better, due to parental control (somewhat, if they will). Also, almost all school systems receive free books from Islam groups. Where they have changed their training to a more favorable Islam agendas. History should not be change to make a religion or a region look better or "not so bad"

The Federal government has had LITTLE success in most things they control. They need 600 bureaucrats to do what can be done locally with 6.

I appreciate your listening to us on this valid legislation. Common core is a frightening concept which should not be forced on the school system. By allowing parents more rights I believe education can become a valuable asset.

If you compare the children of today to the children of the 1960,s you will see a retrograde of accomplishments and basic understanding of our founding! This is because of the interference of Washington into our childrens schools!!

Jimmy Carter created the Dept of Education in 1976-77, and the quality of education has plummeted , while bureaucracy has sucked the life , common sense , and control away from local schools and students . The Dept of Education should be abolished , along with the Common Core agenda . Pass the Bill to terminate the Dept of Education !

The Department of Education is a worthless and useless Government Agency that can be eliminated to save the Tax Payers Billions of Dollars and eventually improve the Public Educational System in our country by getting rid of the worthless Bureaucrats that do nothing but meddle in our Children`s Education to simply justify their own existence

Abolish the Department of Education, the taxpayer money pit, usurper of local education control, and Jimmy Carter payoff to the teachers' unions for getting him elected! He was the second worst president and we have the teachers' unions to blame for that, for centralized control, and Common Core that we all hate!

The responsibility for public education is a right retained by the state and local governments exclusively as it is power the is NOT delegated to the U.S. government. Therefore the U.S. Dept. of Education is an unconstitutional overreach of federal power... an intrusion into the exclusive domain of the states.

Our public schools have become nothing more than indoctrination centers for the liberal propaganda. Also teaching of very objectionable material. Local control and not Federal unfunded mandates should be the rule. Its another waist of our taxes.
