I am a gunowner, a good and law-abiding, freedom-loving American and I am a strong defender of our Second Amendment right. The right of law-abiding citizens to own firearms is an individual right guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the Constitution and our Founders clearly understood that one of the most basic rights of Americans is the ability to defend themselves and their families from criminals and from a tyrannical government. I am a teacher and have been a teacher for over three decades. In light of the terrible tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, there have been calls for immediate (and extremely emotional) action to address gun control. I do believe it is important that we have a serious national discussion about preventing these senseless acts of violence and protecting our children in our schools. I am a teacher and a trained CCW holder and I believe that teachers should be allowed and encouraged to carry concealed weapons in the classroom to protect the children in our charge. A weapons ban does nothing to keep guns out of the hands of the bad guys, it never has and it never will. Any person who actually thinks that criminals will obey gun bans, are some special kind of stupid. That idea is emotional nonsense based on nothing more than fabricated hysteria. The solution is to arm the good people. The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy (or gal) with a gun. I will always support legislation that safeguards our Second Amendment rights, encourages safe and responsible gun ownership, and keeps our homes and families safe and free from criminals and the oppression of dictators and tyrants. I will always be suspect of anyone who seeks the illusion of safety and security at the cost of freedom and I will never comply with the dictates and mandates of a dictator like the current poor excuse for a POTUS.REPORT COMMENTS
