I understand the emotional reason for believing that the gun debate should be opened, but that is not the real issue at stake here. Mental health has been kicked to the side line as something that can be managed with a pill and an outpatient service. This is far from the truth, but in the 1980s the ACLU won the freedom for many of the people who suffer from the disease. It was explained away as eccentric or "creative" behavior; this is a fancy disguise for someone experiencing psychosis or schizophrenia, and should be properly addressed by a licensed Psychologist. I believe the answer is to bring back the ability to hold someone for observation if violent behavior is observed. Nancy Laza knew she had a ticking time bomb on her hands, but the resources to help are simply just not there. While it is easy and convenient to blame a product for what happened, it will not address the underpinning problem. Please steer this debate in the right direction and do something to help the people struggling with mental disorders.REPORT COMMENTS
