Tell Congress: Publish Federal Credit Card Transactions Online!

It's time for the American People to provide the oversight needed to thoroughly and regularly review federal charge card transactions, report abuse, and see that employees are fired.

The GSA’s SmartPay program has been rife with waste and fraud since it first began providing charge cards to federal agencies in 1998.

Transactions for cruises, household appliances, lingerie, dating services, brothels, jewelry, and personal computers have appeared on executive agency credit card statements in recent years.

A June 25 Associated Press report noted that I.R.S. charge cards were recently used to purchase expensive steak dinners, wine, baby clothing, as well as internet pornography.

These things stated, it’s time for Congress to end such clear and ongoing abuse of taxpayer dollars.

Since laws designed to punish those who improperly use federal charge cards already exist, the trouble is with the current, insufficient auditing process.

Rather than leave oversight to government alone, Congress must pass legislation that would require all federal credit card transactions – with the exception of those that relate to the security of the nation – to be published online and subject to public review.

It’s time for the American People to provide the oversight needed to thoroughly and regularly review federal charge card transactions, report abuse, and see that employees are fired under the"Government Charge Card Abuse Prevention Act of 2012."

With the federal government $16.6 trillion in debt, Congress must do everything in its power to eliminate waste and fraud. There are no excuses.

Take action! Demand that the United States Congress pass a law requiring that all government credit card statements be subject to public review! Excepting only transactions relating to national security, lawmakers must mandate that every credit charge from every government agency be published online.

In addition to publishing these credit card statements, start makng these government employees responsible and take these personal expenses out of their paychecks! If you're not going to fire them, at least make them pay for their abuse and breach of trust!

Take away the govt. credit card and have them submit paperwork for reimbursement, that way it can be determined if it should be paid or not.

Nobody in the government should have a tax payer paid credit card. They should be using their own personal credit card and then justifying the expense for reimbursment the same as businesses are required to do
