Tell Congress: Keep Presidential Term Limits, Oppose H.J. Res. 15

New York Representative Supports a Resolution that would Abolish Presidential Term Limits ...

On January 4, New York Representative Jose Serrano introduced H.J. Res. 15 -- a resolution to repeal the 22nd Amendment and thereby abolish presidential term limits.

H.J. Res. 15 is currently in the House Judiciary Committee, and lacks co-sponsors. In order to succeed, it must pass both the House and the Senate, and have support among at least 3/4 of the fifty state governments.

In 1947, the 22nd Amendment passed in Congress and was later ratified in 1951.

The Amendment was created by Congress to prevent three and four term U.S. Presidents, like Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Term limits are a good thing and must remain.

Tell Your Lawmakers to OPPOSE the Repeal of the 22nd Amendment, H.J. Res. 15. Sign the petition and message lawmakers below.

We would become a dictatorship like 3rd world countries. Not a good thing, the damage a President could do during that time. Think of the worst President you know of and then think about it..

no office should be left to run uncontrolled ...humans have a problem when they get power...it is part of being human and makes them dangerous to other humans.

I had a feeling the man who thinks he's king would push someone to introduce a bill like this. I told everyone that this might happen.

Oppose the Repeal the term limits of the president! It's there for a reason. A President should not be in "power" for more than 2 terms.

Two term limitations serve the country very well, no need to change 22nd Amendment.

Why are the leftists bothering to repeal the 22nd amendment? They don't follow the constitution anyway. Like the second amendment which is all but gone. It says that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Then why must you get a carry permit in most places when that is "bearing" arms? I don't recall the 2nd amendment being changed. Also, "arms" means more than guns but we are debating guns. Granted, I'm not going to put a cannon on my front yard but the 2nd gives me the right to do so. We really have a lot of soul searching to do since the massive slaughter of people has always been done by governments who have takens arms away from the people. Mexico doesn't allow individuals to keep or bear arms and look at the slaughter down there. We must protect our freedoms at all costs. I grieve over the deaths of innocent children but compare that to the 100 million innocents who have been murdered by governments in the past and are still being murdered today. China doesn't allow arms and people are continually "disappearing" there and put to death at the whim of a government official. A woman recently was forced to have an abortion there and was photographed in a hospital bed with her dead fetus propped up beside her. Yes, we can have that here also, all we need is a leftist dictator and a ban on arms.
