Tell Congress: Do not bail out the Ukraine!

The Ukraine is asking the United States and the European Union for $35 billion in foreign aid ...

On February 24, 2014, the Ukraine began petitioning the United States and European Union for $35 billion dollars over the next two years.

According to a report, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry is looking for the first alotment to be distributed by the week of March 9, 2014.

From Reuters:

"In an address to the nation, [acting president] Turchinov on [February 23, 2014] spelled out the enormity of the task facing Ukraine's new leadership, and identified stabilising the economy as a priority.

Against the background of global economic recovery, the Ukrainian economy is heading into the abyss and is in a pre-default state," he said.

"The task of the new government is to stop the country's slide into the abyss, to stabilize the exchange rate, guarantee the timely payment of salaries, pensions and stipends, and to regain the confidence of investors, promote the development of enterprises and the creation of new jobs."

This said, the Ukraine is asking the United States and European Union to bail them out of their economic and debt problems.

While the humanitarians will likely herald American aid to the Ukraine, a taxpayer-funded bailout of that country would be not only unconstitutional, but unwise.

The United States simply has no money with which to bail out the Ukraine, and Congress must block any "emergency" aid from flowing in that country's direction.

George Washington said in his farewell address that America should steer clear of interweaving its "peace and prosperity" with the toils of foreign nations; Thomas Jefferson said in his second inaugural address that the United States should "entangle alliances with none."

These words are still true today and we need to make DC listen!
