Education is a State's responsibility in concert with the state's taxpayers who are parents responsible for their children's education!

Education belongs to parents, communities and the individual states. We don't need the federal government involved in decisions regarding education.

The Dept of Ed is an extortionist organization, withholding the return of the state's resident's federal taxes for concessions in teaching practices. Shame on you for allowing that practice to exist for almost 5 decades.

I would appreciate it if you would consider this. I will have grandchildren in the near future who will go to school and I am quite tired of the indoctrination going on in the public school system that does not pertain to math, science and literature, but to ones own belief. I believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If the leaders of the school system do not believe in my God, that is their prerogative, but don't teach children your god. Let middle America who believes in the God in which this country was built decide on their own how to teach their kids by going back to the basics of actually teaching the basics. Let us go back to teaching math, science, literature, respect and love for others and especially respect for elders. Respect for others does not mean that you have to believe in what they believe in, but respect that they have a right to believe that way and not bully them due to their beliefs. Lets get back to common sense rather than common core.

I realize this is a bold proposal but the federal government has it's hands in too many areas. The states need to take control of their education systems. Thank you for considering this.

No where in the U.S. Constitution is "education" designated as a duty of the federal government. It is absolutely a duty that is relegated to the states to provide. And states, here's a good outline for you to follow in regards to your curriculum; “It is an object of vast magnitude that systems of education should be adopted and pursued which may not only diffuse a knowledge of the sciences but may implant in the minds of the American youth the principles of virtue and of liberty and inspire them with just and liberal ideas of government and with an inviolable attachment to their own country.” – Noah Webster, On Education of Youth in America, 1790.

The education of our children is the responsibility of our parents, our community and our state. We are not cookie cutter states nor cookie cutter kids. Every community has its own needs, problems and diversity. Even here where I live there are 3 plus school districts and they vary widely in needs. There is no way DC can adequately deem how our schools should be run.

I was a public school teacher for 45 years, retired recently. PLEASE send education back to the states! Federal government as usual has destroyed any real education which has over the last many years become purely indoctrination. Please pass this bill!
