I kinda agree with one reservation. If a state has a well documentation of providing poor education to children, there has to be some control or point of help for parents to step in if the state itself has done nothing to better the states level of education. Basic learning should include all states guarantee, at least. In the school system near me for 30 years the school district did nothing for the kids with a barely 47% high school graduation and those who did graduate didn't have basic tools for which they could be hired for a job, for 30 years. And the state did nothing. There has to be some place for parents to go when the circumstances like ours exist within a state. I do agree maybe its not the place of the dep of education because it is too political and its new math is discouraging and frustrating to adults let alone kids. Common core should never have been forced on anybody especially with having threat of no money if refused by states or schools hanging over states heads. Blackmail or whatever you call it is illegal and not the type of gov't we need. Maybe after killing the dept. of education some other route could be set up for a place for parents to go if they have to expose their state's terrible education system.REPORT COMMENTS

This is not an area that the federal government has any business being involved in. The federal government has enough trouble managing areas that they should be responsible for. Work on balancing the budget, building the military, rolling back the EPA regulations that are slowing our economy, and running the lobbies out of D.C. While pass term limits on the House and Senate. If you are worth your salt, that should take about six months. Then you would deserve a week off.REPORT COMMENTS

Under the Constitution, the Federal overnment has no authority whatsoever. The Department of Education should be abolished until such time as an amendment to the Constitution is ratified. Since the federal government took control of public education the American populace has been dumbed down more each year. Most so called public schools now graduate functional illiterates, American history is no longer taught or totally rewritten to teach politically correct lies. Math skills are now 17th among the industrialized nations instead of number 1. Children are no longer taught how to critically think for themselves but how to be mindless drones regurgitating the politically correct intolerance of those who hate the United States. The US taxpayers are robbed of $600 Billion+ around $12,000 per student a year, only to produce America hating, self-centered, brainwashed snowflakes that are totally unprepared to care for themselves. The Dept. of Education is a blight on America, a cancer that is killing our nation.REPORT COMMENTS

It has accomplished one thing quite well and that is that it has politicized the school system and the teachers pitting them against any tax payer, teacher, administrator, parent. or student that isn't exactly aligned with their mission. The system should be blind to anything political and only focused on teaching the subject matter to kids. It should not be focused on indoctrination and it should not be part of a sinister plan to suppress free thought and free speech.REPORT COMMENTS
