The Constitution and Bill of Rights made no provision for federal interference in the educational system. They left it up to the sovereign states and local governments to provide education. My ancestor fought in the Revolutionary War to establish our Republic and free us from an overbearing government across the ocean and I stand up for our right to be free of an overbearing government in our nation.REPORT COMMENTS

We need to keep educational decisions at the state and local level, not having to be tied to a once size fits all curriculum because we'red tied to Federal funding. Prime examples being Common Core and allowing Planned Parenthood to teach our children sex education.REPORT COMMENTS

Parents and legal guardians should have the ultimate decision regarding the education of their children. From birth to approximately 6 yrs. of age are the most important formative years and children have to be taught to act like decent human beings with compassion, thoughtfulness, and kindness....essentially learning to live by the "Golden Rule". They have a right to be taught by teachers who also have these attributes and love the children in their care. We need a not-for-profit charter, private and religious schools where the money designated for each child travels with them as they find the school that is a perfect fit for them. These beginning schools are going to determine their futures and we owe this to them. Parents also have to become involved in their children's education plus give them an education of manners and caring for others.REPORT COMMENTS

There was NEVER a requirement for federal oversight in state school systems, there is no federal school currently operating and even our most prestigious universities still reside in a home state. I couldn't agree more with the passage of this bill!REPORT COMMENTS

As a retired teacher with 25 years in the profession, I watched education become a pawn of the federal government as it increasingly took over curriculum as a condition of funding. Feds do not know what my students need. Feds do not see the progress of each student as I do. I am so pleased my grandchildren are home schooled!REPORT COMMENTS

I hear too much about the absurdity of Common Core, Re-writing history taught in schools, teaching and drilling students about Muslims and Sharia Law and generally dumbing down the generation that will inherit the greatest nation on earth. Because of the Liberal failure of gov't. education, we have lost ground on the world as the best and smartest. The Department of Education is one of the biggest reasons for the for the degradation of our society. I no longer have school-age children, but if I did, they surely wouldn't be in public schools. Please support HR 899 and let the states handle our children's education.REPORT COMMENTS
