Tell Congress: Abolish the U.S. Department of Education

Messages Sent So Far

Members of Congress need to abolish the Department of Education and get the federal government out of our schools.

Sign the petition and tell your U.S. Representative and Senators to support and pass H.R. 899, a bill that includes a single sentence that states, "The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018.”

Education is not the responsibility of the federal government, but the responsibility of parents first and communities second. The absolute highest level of civil authority over education permitted under the Constitution is State government.

I have already signed one petition to abolish the department of education. I will gladly do it again. The Federal Government has no business in the peoples affairs. Put the schools back under the state control along with the parents. And do it soon.

Most kids when finished with high school and go onto college only to struggle trying to get caught up and start pursuing a degree, so that shows our schools are not meeting the standards.

Common Core has done nothing but confused parents and students and harmed our school systems way of teaching, Time to get back to the three R's and get the Feds out of what should be local decisions, and stop pushing the teaching of Islamic doctrine in so many of our schools across the Nation this is not the middle east students here need to learn about America and American ways, As it is now College students don't know American or World History and it seems the only thing that they are being taught is how to protest.

The DOE should be done away with. Our children are being taught how to overthrow America and how bad America is, they know nothing about American history Most don't even know the vice president is. This is a state function and should be turned over to the states. Semper Fi

The common core is not working, more students are being left behind if they can't keep up. We need to get back to the basics reading, writing and math, so that our children can come out of school with the basics to be self sufficient. To go on and learn a trade or continue to higher education. Go back to the way our founding fathers intended government to work......

By deleting the Dept of education, you will be well on the way to down sizing the federal govt, thus cutting spending!!

One more area that the Federal Government has overreached into and completely fouled up. There is reason and wisdom, in a free society, that our founding fathers did not place the responsibility of education at the federal level. This responsibility lies first at the family, local, and lastly state level. Anything besides this is laziness and tyranny.

As American' we allow the infringement of our property rights to be collectivized (collected in the form of property taxes) and doled to bureaucracy. This act is done through threat of violence i.e. liens against you, or outright confiscation by force) The motive for this violence against the individual is the idea that the state must educate all 'its' children. Our current education system is an amalgam of many and is communist Prussian in origin. Restore the Constitution - Reclaim the Republic.

Demand Liberty, and freedom. Less government control over American citizens.Children and students are being pawned by beurocrats and unions for the sake of federal dollars. Education is now about learning how to just take test after test after test . Slow down learn the principled content that could be decided by you and your local and state elected officials decided by you not lobbyist .
