Kentucky: Tell the Governor and State Lawmakers to Change Election Law, Let Rand Run!

Kentucky election law currently prohibits U.S. Senator Rand Paul from seeking Presidential Office in the coming general election -- something that he has hinted at -- as he has already committed to run for re-election as a U.S. Senator.

Kentucky election law prohibits any individual from having his name appear on the ballot more than once, except "if he is a candidate for a primary or a regular election and also a candidate to fill a vacancy in the same office required to be filled at a special election." (See: KRS 118.405.

To date, this statute has been interpreted to prohibit U.S. Senator Rand Paul from seeking Presidential Office in the coming general election - something that he has hinted at doing - as he has already committed to run for re-election as a U.S. Senator.

Kentucky Senate Majority Leader Damon Thayer says this interpretation is wrong as Kentucky election law is unable to influence federal elections.

On March 18, the Kentucky Senate passed Thayer's bill -- this means the legislation's future is in the hands of the Kentucky House and Governor.

If enough grassroots activists mobilize, there's hope we can help turn tables in Kentucky and get this bill passed!

Kentucky deserves both a great Senator and a great Presidential contender in 2016. Senator Paul should not have to vacate his Senate seat to run for President? We need a Republican that can defeat either Hillary or Joe B. Neither one are fit to run this once great country. Paul would put us back on track. Rand is one of VERY few who IS Conservative (though he could be more Cruz-ish on imiigration). AMNESTY or "pathway" to citizenship/legality = WRONG! I would vote for him if ran for President in 2016.
